Africa Meets Europe and solidarity in diversity:

The 1st May has been a significant day for the Black Community of Upper Austria

This year 1st May 2009 was a special day because of the motor solidarity in diversity, Africa meets Europe.

In the morning hours we demonstrated with the Social Democratic Party at Landstrasse in Linz demanding for the acknowledgment of the rights of better working conditions for all workers and the fulfilment of the Human Rights Declaration art. 23 paragraphs 1 to 3 in Austria.

The African Community in its colours crowned the occasion with the Mocuda Union in their traditional tract , the Edo Community in their Uniforms,  the East African Community, the Igbo Community and the Camsu accompanied by the Sekembuke & Siga from Tanzania  with their traditional Zumari horn to grace the occasion.

In the evening, the Black Community in cooperation with "Die Parade" which consists of about 50 musicians from the  continents Africa, Asia and Europe*, the football club Union Pichling and the fire service of Pichling raised the 1st May Tree as solidarity and as a sign that  African People have come to stay and be part of the Austrian society and interested in the traditions of our new home. We are willing and ready to play our part in this society if we are given the chance to.

It was a different type of 1st May celebration:

With the motor African meets Europe, and solidarity in Diversity, the Originality of the African celebration feeling overshadowed the air. For the solarner. It was Africa pure for the Africans and it made them feel at home once more.

Alpenhorn from Switzerland, Donau Brass from Austria,  Lege lege Foli from Burkina Faso, Masterdrummers of Nepal from Bhaktapur, Sekembuke & Siga from Tanzania, Shanbehzadeh Duo from Iran and  Simonga-Maliko from Zimbabwe and Zambia -
